Design Checklist
Before getting started in designing and developing a website, there are some basic things to know about.
Domain Registration
Domain names are the .com, .net, .org, and all the other "dot coms" that we have become familiar with. The first step in getting a website is to find one available, as well as applicable to your business. Truth be told, getting a .com is ideal, but also getting one that is easy to spell, say, and remember is also important. For instance, if your business is called Charlie's Shoes, getting the domain charliesshoes.net is more ideal than charliesshoesandapparel.com. For one, it is shorter, and too it is the actual name of your business. You have to keep in mind, not only will you be emailing the website address to people, you will also be saying it a lot verbally, and over the phone, so shorter, easier to remember is better.
Website Hosting
Every website has to be hosted somewhere. This means the actual website files have to be in a certain location, accessible by everyone on the World Wide Web. Unfortunately, website hosting is not free (and neither is domain registration). We offer website hosting with every website we design and develop.
Content/Copy Writing
Creating professional copy for your website is not just about using correct punctuation and big fancy words, but it's about getting the right message across, to the right people. How many times have you said, "I know what I want to say, I just don't know how to say it"?
Graphics/Images
The graphics and images need to make your website aesthetically pleasing can come from a variety of sources. Many graphics can be easily created, or found readily available on the internet. Some graphics will need to be supplied to us by you (such as your company logo, current images of your products, etc.). Other images and graphics may be purchased from a stock photo company for a fee.
Photography
Not every website can safely use stock photography, plus, using custom photography will make your website more unique, and more applicable to your business. Whether you're a doctor, a construction business, or an ice delivery company, using custom photography will enhance the over all user experience, and help your future customers feel more comfortable in whom they do business with.
